Young people from Andalusia choose international cooperation networks and agencies for traineeships

Fifteen young Andalusians have chosen international cooperation networks and agencies for their traineeships in the framework of the « Hercules II » project. PLATFORMA will be welcoming one of them in its office.  

Forty young people have been selected among more than a hundred candidates and respond to a profile of high qualification, specific knowledge and languages. After the training period, 15 of them will work for nine months, with an internship contract, in the international organizations that participate in the program: UN agencies (UNDP, ILO, UN Women, UN HABITAT, UNESCO, WHO and IOM) and networks of local and governments such as UCLG, PLATFORMA and Mercociudades.

The Hercules II program is an initiative promoted by FAMSI, with the support of the Andalusian Agency for International Development Cooperation (AACID) and FAMSI partners, and the collaboration of United Nations Agencies and Programs, networks of local governments and multilateral entities. Luz Ortega, director of AACID, and Ignacio Caraballo, president of FAMSI and the Diputación de Huelva, one of the partners of FAMSI who supports the initiative, together with the provincial councils of Jaén and Sevilla, attended the opening seminar.

With the Hercules program, 40 young people begin a training itinerary in which they will acquire specialized knowledge on international cooperation for development and work carried out in international organizations, in alliance with networks of local governments such as the Andalusian Fund of Municipalities for International Solidarity.

Before 40 young Andalusians, they have emphasised the value of training and solidarity that this group of young people can contribute to through their work in international cooperation for sustainable development « that places people in a priority. »
