6th Franco-Japanese Meeting of Decentralized Cooperation

The city of Kumamoto will host the 6th Franco-Japanese Meeting of Decentralised Cooperation from 8 to 11 October 2018.

An essential rendezvous for cooperation between France and Japan, these Biennial Meetings of local governments were initiated in Nancy in October 2008, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 150 years of Franco-Japanese diplomatic relations. Placed under the auspices of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior and Communications of Japan, these meetings are co-organized by Cités Unies France associated with CLAIR Paris.

The fifth edition of the Rencontres, organised in Tours, in 2016, was a real success with 170 participants from 41 local authorities, gathered around the theme of «Innovation as a factor of economic dynamism and international influence for local authorities».

These 6th Meetings are a continuation of previous meetings to deepen the work of exchange of good practices to solve common problems. Discussions will be organized around the global theme: «Territorial attractiveness, a vector of development for a responsible society. »

This topic will be further developed in the three proposed workshops, focused on the accessibility of public transport for all, the mobilization of young people internationally, or the coordination of “inter collectivities”: actions in favor of culture, tourism, development economic and crisis management.
