World Urban Forum
On 9 February, PLATFORMA is organising together with CEMR, the Global Task Force of local and regional governments and the Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa an event on the city and the territory: the role of intermediary cities and the Territorial Approach to Local Development for achieving the SDGs and the New Urban Agenda.
The World Urban Forum (WUF) is a United Nation Conference on urban issues. It was established in 2001 by the United Nations to examine one of the most pressing issues facing the world today: rapid urbanization and its impact on communities, cities, economies, climate change and policies. Organized and convened by UN-Habitat, the Forum has become one of the most open gatherings on the international arena, for exchanging views and experiences on urban challenges. The Ninth Session of the World Urban Forum will take place in Kuala Lumpur between the7th and the 13th of February 2018 and will be the first session to focus on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda adopted in Habitat III.
PLATFORMA will be attending the Conference and has submitted, together with CEMR, a proposal to organise an event: “The city and the territory: the role of intermediary cities and the Territorial Approach to Local Development for achieving the SDGs Urban Agenda”.
