Africa-Europe Week: Local forum ahead of the European Union (EU)-African Union (AU) Summit
An online local forum organised by civil society organisations (CSOs) and local authorities will take place on 15 February 2022 (all day), with the support of the European Commission.
This initiative aims at actively contributing to the debates on a joint way forward for the Africa-EU Partnership, celebrating joint achievements, discussing strategic priorities for both continents and offering opportunities for meaningful exchanges amongst civil society organisations and local governments in the margins of the European Union (EU)-African Union (AU) Summit to be held on 17 and 18 February 2022.
CEMR/PLATORMA is involved in this local forum, together with other Framework Partnership Agreement signatories: AIMF, CLGF, UCLG and UCLG Africa. Two sessions will be organised by these 5 international networks of local governments:
- People and prosperity (covering governance aspects, development, global problems of inclusivity, job creation, green economies, innovative models to engage with citizens, develop mutually beneficial public-private partnerships…)
- Planet (covering climate aspects, climate justice, green transition, covenant of mayors,..
A local governments political declaration will come out of this local forum and the message will be convened to the EU-AU Summit.
