AFCCRE trains local and regional governments on European funding and external cooperation
On the 7th and 8th February, the French Association of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (AFCCRE) was hosted by CEMR and PLATFORMA in Brussels to organize its first training session on European financing and external cooperation for local governments.
Implemented in 2017, with support from the Délégation à l’action extérieure des collectivités territoriales (DAECT – delegation to external action of local governments) of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, this training scheme is available to territorial agents that wish to improve their understanding of European financing opportunities regarding external cooperation of local governments, especially within the CSO-LA framework.
This pilot session was very successful. After an introduction by the Delegate to local governments’ external action, Bertrand Fort, and by the General Director of AFCCRE, Christophe Chaillou, presentations were given by experts from the European Commission, from the Permanent Representation of France to the EU, from PLATFORMA, from DAECT, and from local governments successful in receiving this type of funding. Frédéric Vallier, General Secretary of CEMR, also addressed the audience on this occasion.
AFCCRE received a great number of requests, and will continue to organize those training sessions in metropolitan France and overseas departments. The next one will be held on the 29th and 30th March, following an invitation by the city of Nancy. Five additional sessions should be organized before the end of 2017.
