Launch of the MobiliseYourCity Paratransit Toolkit
Paratransit is a phenomenon that can hardly be ignored in the Global South. It accounts for 50%-98% of passenger trips in Sub-Saharan cities. It represents the principal transport mode and it is highly beneficial to the poorest segments of the population by acting as an important source of employment to low-skill workers and providing them with affordable and accessible transport services, thus enabling their participation in economic, social and cultural life.
However, paratransit today is responsible for access inequalities, precarious working conditions, safety issues, gender inequalities, environmental degradation and GHG emissions.
Join experts on the topic to find out what you can do to maximise the benefits and minimise the negative externalities of paratransit in your cities.
29 November from 3:00 to 5:00pm CET.
