Have a look at the 2019 annual report of the Brussels development cooperation
Brussels International recently published the 2019 annual report of the Brussels development cooperation. In addition to reflecting the political transition following the regional elections, the report also reviews the foundations that were put in place previously as well as the first results of the new coalition and future challenges.
The 2019 annual report on development cooperation takes stock of the first cycle of this policy, which was only recently added to the competences of the Brussels-Capital Region (BCR). At the same time, it also provides an overview of actions that were already implemented, both under the previous regional government and under the new regional government.
The report recalls the priorities of Pascal Smet, the Brussels State Secretary responsible for development cooperation, i.e., to strengthen the urban resilience of regions in the South that are partners of the BCR, to foster global citizenship and solidarity in Brussels, to promote consistent policies for sustainable development and to improve the procedures for granting humanitarian aid.
The report also proposes guidelines for the future, namely to take better account of the many diasporas in Brussels in international relations and in particular in development cooperation.
