The annual European Days of Local Solidarity (EDLS) are taking place for the fifth time between 14 and 29 November 2020 in cities and regions in Belgium, France, Italy, Georgia, Latvia, Moldova, the Netherlands, Spain and Ukraine but also online! Check out the full agenda.

Do you know what your city is doing to contribute to global sustainable development? Did you know that solidarity is not only about charity and fund raising? Discover how, across Europe, cities and regions are playing a key role in development cooperation. Learn more about what they are doing to involve citizens, not only in times of pandemic!

Health, childhood and birth registration, activism, migration and refugees, gender equality, human rights… these are what development cooperation and solidarity are all about. Join one or several of the more than 60 EDLS activities (exhibitions, concerts, webinars…) and discover what your city or region is concretely doing to tackle the challenges of global sustainable development.

During the EDLS, cities and regions co-organise events to connect with and learn about other communities in the world and raise citizens’ awareness on the interdependencies between our societies. From COVID-19 to climate change, no nation or territory is big enough to face these global challenges alone.

Mark your calendars!

On 17 November (10.00-11.30 CET), don’t miss PLATFORMA 8th webinar on Development education and awareness raising (DEAR). The aim is to explore the benefits of DEAR projects and policies carried out by local and regional governments for international solidarity, development cooperation and sustainable solutions in a globalised world. Check the full agenda and register now.

A pan-European initiative

The European Days of Local Solidarity (EDLS) are an annual 2-week campaign run by European cities and regions committed to inform and mobilise their citizens on global solidarity and sustainable development issues. Launched in 2016, the EDLS are coordinated by PLATFORMA, the pan-European coalition of local and regional governments, and their associations, active in town-to-town and region-to-region development cooperation. This initiative is developed under the Framework Partnership Agreement signed between CEMR-PLATFORMA and the European Commission. PLATFORMA is co-financed by the European Union.
