Reducing vulnerabilities – climate adaptation from a gender and inclusion lens
Climate change does not affect all people equally, yet the gender and inclusion dimensions of climate adaptation often remain overlooked. Women and other marginalised groups can face greater vulnerabilities while having less access to resources and decision-making processes that shape adaptation responses.
The upcoming UCLG-CIB Gender Knowledge Hub webinar will explore how local governments and Local Government Associations (LGAs) can put gender equality and inclusion at the forefront of climate adaptation to reduce vulnerabilities. Participants will hear practical examples from different contexts, exchange experiences and discuss approaches to making climate adaptation more gender-responsive and inclusive.
Participants will:
- Explore how gender and inclusion can be integrated into climate adaptation strategies;
- Hear practical examples and lessons from local government and other organisations;
- Discuss how different vulnerabilities and needs can be addressed through climate adaptation;
- Exchange experiences and perspectives with peers from across the CIB network.
Relevant resources from the UCLG-CIB Gender Knowledge Hub will also be highlighted during the webinar.
The session will take place on Tuesday, 20 October, from 14:00 to 15:30 CEST on Zoom, with simultaneous interpretation in English and French.
