Take part in the European Days of Local Solidarity 2017!

More than 10 activities will take place all around Europe from 10 to 24 November to show that cities and regions take action to build a more sustainable and inclusive world!

In less than 10 days, the European Days of Local Solidarity (EDLS) will celebrate their second edition. The aim hasn’t changed: it is about promoting and strengthening European local and regional governments’ action on sustainable development. But the number of cities and regions participating in the EDLS has increased! Let’s have a look at the programme:

  • Solidarity Festival in Nantes Métropole

10-11 November: a 2-day program of exchanges, learning and celebration with a focus on the concept of “reciprocity”

11 November: a Fairtrade breakfast, followed by a series of thematic workshops, conferences, storytelling sessions… and even a multicultural ball!

  • From Getxo to the world, from the world to Getxo

11 November: a Solidarity fair in Getxo (Basque Country, Spain): “Getxotik Mundura, Mundutik Getxora. From Getxo to the world, from the world to Getxo.”

16 November: a debate on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): how to build up partnerships between local governments, the private sector and civil society for an effective sustainable development for all?

  • Moldovan folklore for secondary and adult schools from Jaunpils

Between 13-18 November, secondary and adult schools from the region of Jaunpils (Latvia) will be introduced to the Moldovan folklore through concerts, art contests and games. A delegation of local representatives from Moldova will visit the region with the aim of strengthening ties and fostering dialogue.

A workshop on the promotion of Italian cities’ action for global sustainable development and a solidarity fair in the unique setting of the city of Venice on 13 November.

A conference on 15 November focused on new methodologies to communicate with citizens on development issues, followed by a performance on Human right defenders and a concert.

From 10 to 26 November, projection of the movie Silencio del Rio by Carlos Tribiño. On 23 November at 20.30 the projection will be followed by the testimony of two human rights defenders from Colombia participating in the protection program of the Catalan government, and a round-table discussion facilitated by two Catalan NGOs.

A Nicaraguan muralist painter will visit Dutch primary schools between 13 September and 3 December, to help pupils build up a mural on the 17 SDGs.
