FEMP: Localizing the Sustainable Development Goals
Our Spanish partner, FEMP, is organising an event « Localizing the Sustainable Development Goals: Accelerating and supporting the implementation of the SDGs at the local level » from February 25 to 27 in the city of Seville (Fundación Cajasol – Plaza de San Francisco).
The event is organised by the governments of Spain, Ecuador and Cape Verde, with the financial support of the Government of Spain and will be co-facilitated by the Government of Spain and the Local2030 Network – a network that brings together the United Nations system, national, regional and local governments, the private sector, civil society and other partners to support and accelerate the implementation of the SDGs at the local level. More than 20 UN institutions are members of this network and will be participating in the substantive development of the event.
In addition to being a space for reflection and analysis of the importance of the localization of the SDGs, the event aims to encourage the development of new joint initiatives to support the formulation, implementation and revision of these policies, to identify key partners at the national and local level that can promote and inspire innovative actions, to launch a virtual platform of the Local2030 network that allows connections and networks, to jointly formulate a roadmap with specific commitments to advance in the location of the SDGs; and to develop a political statement (« The Seville Commitment ») as a contribution to the High Level Political Forum and other relevant global events.
