SALAR International Training Programme 2026 | Inclusive Local Governance
Our partner SALAR International is developing a new international training on inclusive local governance. This training is planned for 2026 and is currently under development. Register your interest now to receive updates as the training takes shape.
The training programme is designed for policymakers, municipal leaders, and practitioners who want to strengthen skills in:
- Local Governance and Local Development
- Local Finance
- Sustainable Urban Development
The training builds on SALAR International’s long-standing experience in supporting governance and reform processes across the MENA region, Eastern Europe, Western Balkans, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and Asia, while offering participants direct exposure to Sweden’s unique municipal system – one of the most decentralised, transparent and most effective in the world.
The training is designed to combine international perspectives with hands-on learning. Through workshops, peer-to-peer exchanges, and structured study visits, participants will not only enhance their knowledge but also leave with practical tools and strategies they can apply in their own contexts – ensuring that every lesson is directly connected to the realities they face at home
The programme is open to leaders and professionals engaged in local governance, finance, and urban development, including:
▪️ Municipal leaders (mayors, councillors, executives)
▪️ Technical staff (finance officers, planners, engineers)
▪️ National officials from relevant ministries
▪️ Civil society and NGO practitioners
▪️ Development partners and donor representatives
