The film exhibition of the Mallorcan Fund acquires a new format under the title «Cinema and intercultural dialogue, a necessary alliance», in order to promote the culture of peace through cinema.
On 26 and 27 October, a new edition of the Mallorca Fund’s film exhibition will take place, the first under the format «Cinema and intercultural dialogue, a necessary alliance», which includes for the first time a film directed at the children’s audience and workshops and debates after the screenings.
Thus, the animated film Vanille will be screened on October 26 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lloseta Library and on 27 October at 5 p.m. at the Es Rafal library in Sa Pobla.
Vanille, a young Parisian who has just arrived on the island of Guadalupe, immerses herself in an adventure full of mystery where she must go to find picturesque characters and a magical flower. Holidays with many adventures.
Once the film is over, Casal de la Pau Manacor will be in charge of a small activity on intercultural dialogue aimed at the children attending and they will be invited to a snack of fair trade products.
On the other hand, on 26 October at 6 p.m., Sarah Bouyain’s Notre Etrangere will be screened at the Flassaders center in Palma. And the same film, on the 27th at 6 pm at Casa des Poble, in Esporles.
After the death of her father, Amy, a young mestizo settled in the vicinity of Paris, returns to Bobo, in Burkina Faso, to look for her mother, from whom she was separated at the age of 8. He finds only his aunt, surrounded by a family court as comforting as it is suffocating. He comes and goes to a city he doesn’t know. Far away, Mariam, a 45-year-old woman from Burkina, cleans offices and lives in Paris, hoping to find her daughter. Meet Esther, an executive at the company where she cleans. The two lonely women begin to appreciate each other.
After the viewing, there will be a debate with the film’s director and peace education expert, Manuela Mesa.
This activity continues the film exhibition that it organises annually as part of the program of education activities for global citizenship. Since its inception, this exhibition has focused on showing, through the cinematographic arts, various causes and consequences of human mobility. All films are part of Al Tarab’s film collection.
