UCLG & NALAS cooperate to support the Voluntary Subnational Review on SDGs in Romania

UCLG World Secretariat and NALAS supported ACOR (NALAS member) in Romania and the Romanian Association of Cities (AMR) in elaborating jointly the Voluntary Subnational Review (VSR) on the progress of implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Romania.

The aim was to contribute to the Voluntary National Review (VNR) that the national government of Romania committed to present to the UN in May 2023. The technical support agreement between all parties offered opportunities such as:

• improving bottom-up dialogue between national and local governments and contributing to the consultation process already planned by the national government to prepare the VNR
• increasing local governments ownership of the 2030 Agenda
• increasing visibility to the actions developed by local governments in Romania at European and world level and to contribute to the UN Decade of Action
• having contribution shared at the UN High-Level Political Forum in New York in July 2023
