PLATFORMA, NALAS & VNG International become members of Team Europe Democracy
PLATFORMA, NALAS & VNG International attended the first TED Network annual meeting on 21 June in Brussels. The three organisations were confirmed as active members of the Team Europe Democracy (TED) end of May by the TED Secretariat.
PLATFORMA, NALAS & VNG International responded to a call organised by the TED Secretariat to select and mobilise key Europe-based stakeholders with global or regional outreach to join the TED Network, which aims at increasing the impact of European democracy support interventions at global and national levels.
The expected added value of the TED Network is to offer a space to key stakeholders and practitioners to share lessons learned and strengthen evidence-based policy dialogue and formulation as well as support and improve joint collaborations to increase impact of their interventions, mainly in the three TED thematic priorities: Accountability and Rule of Law; Political and Civic Participation; and Media and Digitalization.
“We want the TED Network to become a safe space to work together. We aim at developing partnerships with democracy experts and organisations to build up our future actions and to have a bigger impact on the ground”, explained Chiara Adamo, Head of the Unit on Human Rights, Gender Equality and Democratic Governance at the European Commission’s Directorate General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA), at the 1st annual meeting.
The Team Europe Democracy Initiative is a global thematic Team Europe Initiative launched in December 2021 by 14 Member States (Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden) and the EU Commission to improve support to democracy and human rights worldwide.
Team Europe is part of the Capacity4dev knowledge sharing platform created by DG INTPA.
