Together for the 2030 Agenda – “Municipalities as trailblazers for global sustainable development”
Together with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Engagement Global and Service Agency, PLATFORMA is organising a joint event, with the financial support of the European Union: “Municipalities as trailblazers for global sustainable development” on 19-20 November 2020 in Berlin. This conference is taking place during the 6-month German EU Council Presidency.
Especially in these times of uncertainty, the 2030 Agenda and it’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations are more important than ever. They give orientation and serve as companions in times of permanent change. The Corona pandemic impressively shows how the three dimensions of sustainable development, ecology, economy and social, are closely interlinked and interacting.
Following questions will guide us through the conference: How best the 2030 Agenda supports municipalities solving the most complex issues? How to communicate the 17 SDGs in an understandable way? What needs to be done to integrate the SDGs into everyday communal tasks? How can municipal partnerships contribute to fight common daily challenges and enhance their skills by learning from each other? Which significant role do national and regional associations of municipalities play in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda? Experts await you with lectures, discussion groups and workshops with best practice examples.
