Fons Mallorquí approved projects and lines of action for 2020
The Mallorcan Found has approved the projects of the municipal programs and of the Mediterranean and Central Asia, as well as the main lines of action for 2020.
Work will be done on the basis of 27 projects, 21 of cooperation, corresponding to the municipal programs and 6 of the Mediterranean and Central Asia, for a total amount of €1,296,094.37. It has also been agreed to allocate €185,000 to emergency and humanitarian aid projects, a call that will remain open until the exhaustion of economic resources.
The projects are part of the municipal development programs promoted by the Mallorcan Fund, which are carried out in Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Mali, Nicaragua, Niger, Peru, Western Sahara and Senegal. These programs are composed of different specific projects that cover various sectors of intervention, depending on the needs of each territory: education, health, public works, housing, local economic development, citizen participation, gender equality…, to guarantee the maximum efficiency in the use of the available resources, at the same time to obtain a greater visibility of the impact of the interventions.
On the other hand, the line for financing initiatives aimed at countries on the southern and eastern shores of the Mediterranean and Central Asia consists of projects that have been identified through strategic alliances with local entities or with European partners and with the axis of strengthening democracy and governability, as well as support for humanitarian actions aimed at improving the situation of people moving through the Mediterranean due to conflicts in the Middle East, Central Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. The countries proposed for 2020 are Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Palestine and Afghanistan.
In the field of awareness-raising, an important part of the Mallorcan Fund’s work will be to raise awareness of the 2030 Agenda through awareness-raising projects aimed at the general public and others specially designed for Fons Mallorquí members, as city councils play a key role in the implementation and achievement of the SDGs.
