One week left before our 10 year anniversary conference!
For sure you have already heard of decentralised cooperation. Don’t miss the opportunity to find out even more about it: come and celebrate the 10th year anniversary of the PLATFORMA coalition with us. It will take place on 10 October 2018, at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium.
During the event, discover how cities and regions from the European Union and worldwide, work together to implement and promote sustainable development. Their main goal: to improve the lives of their citizens.
This anniversary will be the perfect opportunity to exchange with other players and elected officials about development cooperation led by cities and regions.
You will have the possibility to see what PLATFORMA’s partners have accomplished during the past 10 years. In addition, we will discuss together the main challenges facing decentralised cooperation in the next decade.

Localising SDGs
From local policy alignment to global-scaled negotiations, what are the paths into LRGs’ contribution to the 2030 Agenda?
The 2030 Agenda can be an opportunity for local and regional governments (LRGs) to boost more effective, coherent and sustainable local public policies, and to foster their key contribution to national and global agendas for sustainable development. This workshop aims to shed light on best practices and tools being developed at the local and regional scale that help understanding the concrete implications of “localising the SDGs”, from local policy making to advocacy at the global level.
Financing decentralised cooperation
From EU Member States to European Union, how can local governments finance their international partnerships?
In times of limited public financial resources, this workshop will analyse available and potential resources for decentralised cooperation in different contexts, from Member States to European Union programmes. The objective of this workshop will be to identify existing resources, and discuss challenges to access them, as well as future opportunities and threats to finance decentralised cooperation.
This conference is a side event of the European Week of Regions and Cities (EWCR).
