Despite progress towards gender equality, cyberviolence remains a significant barrier to women’s participation in politics. Building on the findings of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions Women in Politics study, this event will highlight the growing impact of technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) on women in local and regional governance. Online harassment, threats, and disinformation campaigns increasingly deter women from entering or remaining in politics, undermining democratic representation.
