Conference: Together for the 2030 Agenda – Municipalities as trailblazers for global sustainable development

9 October 2020

The digital conference “Together for the 2030 Agenda – Municipalities as trailblazers for global sustainable development” will be organised live from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in Berlin on 19 November 2020.

This international conference will focus on local commitment to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is organised by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Service Agency Communities in One World (SKEW) of Engagement Global, PLATFORMA and DG DEVCO.

During the conference municipalities will present how they succeeded in anchoring the SDGs in their everyday municipal life. Moreover, the conference aims to showcase how challenges in implementing the SDGs can be approached within the framework of municipal partnerships. Moreover, inputs, discussion rounds and workshops will provide an opportunity for intermunicipal exchange.

The conference is primarily aimed at representatives of German and European municipalities and partner municipalities from countries of the Global South who have first-hand experience and/or an interest in implementing the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.

The conference language will be English with interpretation in German and French. The participation in the conference is free of charge.
