COP 27 | Events where PLATFORMA & CEMR are represented

CEMR young elected representative Clifford Galea and CEMR spokesperson on the environment Marianne Overton will be on stage at various events during the second week of the 27th UN Climate Change Conference in Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt).

Together with many other local and regional elected officials, Clifford Galea, President of the Tramuntana Region in Malta and member of CEMR young elected officials committee, and Marianne Overton, Councillor at Lincolnshire County Council, North Kesteven District Council, Vice Chair of the Local Government Association and CEMR spokesperson on the environment, will defend the key role of towns and regions in climate change mitigation.

They will notably present CEMR & PLATFORMA common position published ahead of COP27, the online tool on localising SDGs and CEMR brand new online report “Local Finances and the Green Transition in Europe.”

Among other local and regional government representatives present in Sharm el-Sheikh are several local elected officials from Cités Unies France, Deputy Mayors of Bonn and Cologne Melanie Grabowy and Andreas Wolter for RGRE, Marieke Schouten, Deputy mayor of Nieuwegein and member of the ENVE commission of the CoR, Sharon Dijksma, Mayor of Utrecht, Special envoy for the UN city network for VNG International, or Fatimatou Abdel Malick, President of the Regional Conseil of Nouakchott, President of UCLG Africa.
