Conference on Socially Responsible Public Procurement & Human Rights
The fifth edition of the Conference on Socially Responsible Public Procurement, organised by the working group that integrates public administrations and organisations for global justice in Catalonia will be held on 16-17 November in Barcelona.
This year’s theme is “The promotion of a public procurement model based on the protection of human rights“. The conference aims to recognise the advances of recent years and take on the challenge of extending the requirement of policy coherence beyond the borders of the European Union, guaranteeing respect for human rights and extraterritorial responsibility for the life cycle of purchased products and services.
The conference will have different formative spaces on the new European regulations in line with due diligence in the field of Human Rights. They will also share experiences and good practices in the international arena, focusing in the coordination between centralised and decentralised models, and a practical workshop on how to get started in ethical public procurement. On the second day, work will focus on specific sectors such as the health and electronics field and discussions about concrete experiences, strategies and future challenges.
It should also be noted that following the conference, the meeting of Electronics Watch affiliates will also take place in Barcelona on 17 and 18 November, ??among which is the Government of Catalonia, which joined in 2020.
The conference will take place in a hybrid format, online and in-person in Barcelona.
