CSW67 | CEMR/PLATFORMA parallel event | “Cities forging the path to gender justice”
This year, CEMR/PLATFORMA will organise a parallel event at the 67th UN Commission on the Status of Women, on 6 March 2023, at 10:30 EST entitled “Cities forging the path to gender justice”. As part of PLATFORMA’s work to foster city-to-city and region-to-region development cooperation and its efforts to strengthen exchanges among local elected women globally, CEMR is partnering with UCLG Africa and the Standing Committee for the Euro Mediterranean Partnership of Local and Regional Authorities (COPPEM) to demonstrate the power of international partnerships and the potential for Equality Charters to achieve more equitable societies.
UCLG will also hold an in-person side-event entitled: “Local and Regional Governments Empowering All Women through Rights-Based Technologies” on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 10:30 EST.
The sixty-seventh official session of Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67), coordinated by UN Women, will take place from 6 to 17 March 2023, in the UN Headquarters in New York City. It will bring together representatives of member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organisations – including United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) – to discuss the priority theme of “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”. The CSW67 priority provides an opportunity to revisit the gendered impacts of innovation and technology in order to identify recommendations that will allow for a more inclusive and equitable digitalisation.
