A CHANGING EUROPEAN CONTEXT: SUPPORTING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT THROUGH LOCAL AND REGIONAL GOVERNMENTS

• How to reconcile decentralised cooperation with economic crisis?
• What are the distinctive features of local and regional governments (LRG) in conflict and post-conflict countries?
• What do they expect from the European Institutions new policy towards local and regional authorities in the EU partner countries?

In the midst of change, with the crisis hindering LRG’s decentralised cooperation and the new institutional framework starting in 2014, the PLATFORMA Forum will be the opportunity to assess what LRG bring to development cooperation and what opportunities will arise from the new generation of EU financial instruments.

The Forum will gather elected representatives from Europe and from the EU partner countries as well as decentralised cooperation practitioners and high ranking officials from the European institutions.
