FAMSI promotes a project to strengthen the capacities of local governments in the Dominican Republic and Haiti
Specific agreements were recently signed between the Andalusian Fund of Municipalities for International Solidarity (FAMSI) and the municipal federations of the Dominican Republic (FEDOMU) and of the Republic of Haiti (FENAMH), during a virtual meeting.
This is part of the project “Strengthening the technical, institutional and strategic capacities and localisation of the SDGs” of the two cross-border entities.
FEDOMU, FENAMH, the representation of Spanish (ACECID) and Andalusian (AACID) international development cooperation agencies and FAMSI participated in the event.
The project, funded by AACID and the Provincial Deputies of Huelva and Jaén, aims to strengthen the technical and institutional capacities of local governments in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, particularly in the area of ??solid urban waste management in the areas borders between the two countries.
The project will also encourage the work of locating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of these territories, as a roadmap to advance in the improvement of fundamental issues such as education, health, environmental sustainability, equality. or the transparency of institutions.
