Leaders Summit | Stocktake following European Parliament elections
PLATFORMA spokespersons met in Brussels on 17 & 18 June for their annual gathering, the Political Council. This was organised along side the first ever CEMR Leaders Summit.
Two insipiring debates were organised and co-organised by PLATFORMA at the European Committee of the Regions, both moderated by political analyst Shada Islam.

CEMR President Gunn Marit Helgesen called the new Parliament for more commitments towards local governance and cohesion policy, and put the spotlight on the involvement of women in decision-making. Violeta Crudu, PLATFORMA spokesperson from CALM (Moldova), presented the Eastern Partnership perspective: she asked the EU for more financial support to local and regional governments active in the EU enlargement process.

The panel was completed by Boris Tonhauser, director of PLATFORMA, and Renske Steenbergen, deputy director of VNG International, who addressed the new challenges of decentralised cooperation in this changing geopolitical context.
