Our Latvian partner shares experience with municipalities in Kyrgyzstan
From 16 to 21 August, the delegation of the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments (LALRG) has visited several municipalities in Kyrgyzstan to share with experience regarding the implementation of public administration reform.
The visit took place in the framework of the project co-funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia “Development of Local Governments and Promoting Good Governance in Kyrgyzstan” aiming to facilitate good governance in Kyrgyzstan and strengthen the capacity of local governments and the Association of Local Government of Kyrgyzstan.
The delegation from Latvia, including the Chairman of the LALRG Mr Gints Kaminskis, Mayor of Pargauja municipal council Mr Hardijs Vents and Vice Mayor of Amata municipal council Mr Talis Šelengovs, has visited Cholpon-Ata, Kum Bel and Bulan Sogottu municipalities. Representatives of Latvian municipalities and the LALRG shared with their experience in such fields as representation of the interests of local governments, formulation of common vision and establishing dialogue with the national parliament, government and different other stakeholders.
During the visit the cooperation agreement was signed between the LALRG and the Association of Local Government of Kyrgyzstan. The cooperation agreement aims to foster the cooperation between two associations and strengthen the Association of Local Government of Kyrgyzstan by making it to become as the national dialogue platform on local government issues.
