PLATFORMA’s contributions: Fighting inequalities with the local and regional perspective

PLATFORMA calls on the European Union to base the new European Consensus on Development on 2 pilars:
- the integration of the local perspective in all sectors and levels of government (territorial, national and regional/global)
- a new and more comprehensive approach to policy coherence for sustainable development (PCSD)
This document is based on PLATFORMA’s contribution to the Public Consultation on the Future of EU Development Policy. It offers a more elaborated input to the new European Consensus on Development. It also provides concrete examples of global challenges (climate change (p. 29), migrations (p. 31), economic development (p. 33), gender inequalities (p. 35)). It is demonstrated how local action and a territorial approach to development can tackle their root causes.
