During the second half of the eighties several processes in Central and Eastern European countries – legalization of Solidarity in Poland, Pan-European Picnic in Sopron, creation of the Republic of Hungary, Fall of the Berlin Wall, the Velvet Revolution, etc. – developed into their opening, the consolidation of democracy and their rapprochement to Western Europe.
