Register to our webinar EU Neighbourhood South – Safeguarding human rights in the post-COVID-19 context

14 September 2020

PLATFORMA and the Parliamentary assembly of the Mediterranean are jointly organising a webinar on “EU Neighbourhood South – Safeguarding human rights in the post-COVID-19 context” on 18 September 2020, from 10.00 to 12.00 CEST. Register here.

The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly changed the way our societies live and interact. Local and regional governments, along with national administrations, took urgent regulatory measures to stop its spread and safeguard public health, protecting the fundamental human right to life, adapted the provision of local public services to the new context, and engage in discussions about recovery policies and priorities.

The webinar aims to explore the human rights landscape at the local and regional levels in the EU Neighbourhood South, and in the Euro-Mediterranean region of PAM, and present the multi-level governance context in jointly safeguarding, promoting and advancing the human rights agenda around the Mediterranean basin through parliamentary, political, social, and economic cooperation.

It also aims to provide concrete examples how local and regional governments, and parliaments in their national and international capacity, address the human rights challenges and inequalities through decentralised cooperation projects and initiatives.
