Wednesday, April 29, at 5 pm (CEST): “The cooperation of tomorrow: rethinking decentralized cooperation in times of COVID19”

Organised by the Andalusian Agency for International Development Cooperation (AACID)

The current moment requires rethinking development cooperation policies to guarantee their coherence and effectiveness in a new context that is still under construction, with special emphasis on health and the underpinning of solid and capable public systems. respond to new emergencies that will come in the medium and long term.

For this reason, AACID has launched a space for reflection in which to rethink decentralised cooperation policies to guarantee the coherence and effectiveness of these actions, in a new context that is still under construction due to the health crisis caused by COVID-19.

Thursday, April 30, from 3 to 5pm (CEST): “Thematic session: Actions for the immediate response and the generation of employment and sustainable local economic activity from local governments”

Organised by UCLG, Metropolis and UN-Habitat with FAMSI.

As part of the series of Live Learning Experiences, this thematic virtual session will focus on providing
measures to boost employment generation and sustainable local economic activity as a key challenge
faced by cities during and after the outbreak.

Local governments are key for the implementation of local policies for economic reactivation and
promotion of employment, in coordination with the rest of public and private social agents and knowledge
management actors of the territory.

The current health emergency is presented as an opportunity to highlight the international action of local governments, in particular, decentralized cooperation to advance joint solutions between Europe and Latin America.

The Observatory of Decentralized Cooperation EU-LA and the Euro-Latin American Alliance for Cooperation between Cities AL-Las are organising a cycle of three online debates on COVID-19 and Decentralized Cooperation.

The first webinar “The impact of COVID-19 on local governments in Europe and Latin America and its main containment measures” aims to start a first meeting between local and regional governments in Europe and Latin America to address, from the local perspective, common strategies to help face the current crisis, identify the role that cities have played in emergency management and outline the challenges that cities face in the future.
