When localising the SDGs is shared in a creative and participatory environment
The Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments (GTF) – which is facilitated by UCLG – UNDP and UN-HABITAT have made a toolkit for localising the SDGs. Its purpose is to provide information on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to local and regional governments, and their organizations or networks, and equip them with a series of strategies, skills and knowledge to localize them.

The material consists of a Guide for Localizing the SDGs for trainers (which will be published soon); a Roadmap for Localizing the SDGs: implementation and monitoring at subnational level for local and regional governments, their associations and networks; and a SDG memory card game for all audiences. The materials are available in English and will be released in Spanish shortly. In Brazil, the National Confederation of Municipalities (CNM) made it possible to produce the Portuguese version of the Roadmap for Localizing the SDGs: implementation and monitoring at subnational level.
This toolkit is being used in the framework of several learning sessions, which encourage participatory and group work and are promoting the exchange of ideas and experiences among local and regional governments. The interest that this topic and the available materials have sparked has also triggered a multiplier effect, which is encouraging actors taking part in the workshops to circulate them in other parts of the world. In this way, progress is being made towards the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in each territory.
