EDD21: Join us at the “The Global Village Online City Hall”!
This year, the European Development Days (EDD) are fully digital. But once again, the five major international networks of local and regional governments active in development cooperation (AIMF, CLGF, PLATFORMA/CEMR, UCLG and UCLG-Africa) are showcasing how cities and regions lead the way for a sustainable, ecological transformation.
Join us at the “Global Village Online City Hall” on 15-16 June and discuss with us about concrete actions taken by cities and regions! By addressing the challenges of the urban area, by developing smart cities and sustainable transport, by improving waste collection and fostering circular economy, by protecting the environment and dealing with water management, cities and regions are acting all over the globe to ensure a sustainable green transition for all!
To implement the Green Deal, 25% of EU external policy must be dedicated to climate: the battle for solving climate change will be won or lost in cities. The involvement of towns and regions in the EU process will be essential.
AIMF, CLGF, PLATFORMA/CEMR, UCLG and UCLG-Africa signed Framework Partnership Agreements with the European Commission in 2015. Through these partnerships, the EU has recognised the role of towns and regions as policy and decision-makers in addressing global challenges and in implementing the shared global agendas at local level.
Together, the five networks of local and regional governments are taking action to address the interdependence of humans and nature, and foster sustainable urbanisation.
16 June, 10.30 to 10.40: Don’t miss PLATFORMA session “The power of decentralised cooperation in fostering Sustainable Energy in Morocco” on Lille (France) and Oujda (Morocco) “Decentralised Cooperation Project for Sustainable Energy” with CEMR Secretary General Frédéric Vallier and Sidonie Caquant, Head of the International Relations Division, City of Lille.
