Strengthening cooperation between French Polish and Ukrainian local authorities
An agreement was signed between the Association of Polish Cities (Zwi?zek Polskich Miast), the Association of Ukrainian Cities (AUC) and the French Association of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (AFCCRE) on 6 July in Paris.
Through this agreement, the three associations – direct members of PLATFORMA or through the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) – undertake to promote exchanges between local governments of the three countries, thus on the basis of the numerous partnerships which exist both between France and Poland, and also between Poland and Ukraine.
The objective of this initiative is to contribute to the decentralization process in Ukraine by encouraging exchanges of good practices between the communities of the three countries on issues of local interest such as water and sanitation, waste management, sustainable development and energy efficiency, or the land registry.
The three organizations were represented by their respective directors Andrzej Porawski, Olena Tomniuk and Christophe Chaillou, in the presence of Bertrand Fort, Delegate for the External Action of Local Authorities (DAECT) at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
