AIMF is mobilising and opened an Emergency Fund in Solidarity with Lebanon
The current military escalation in the Middle East is taking a heavy toll on Lebanon, its territories and its civilian population, particularly women and children. Since 23 September, the Lebanese people have borne the full brunt of the consequences of a conflict that is largely foreign to them.
The AIMF Bureau, which met in Paris on 3 October, expressed the solidarity of French-speaking mayors with the Lebanese people. The solidarity that binds French-speaking towns has always been expressed through concrete responses, as close as possible to the people, and many member towns have shown their willingness to lend their support.
In this context, the Association Internationale des Maires Francophones is mobilising its Emergency Fund to the tune of €100,000 and is calling on its members to contribute. The funds raised will be used to support actions requested by the local authorities in Lebanon to respond to the initial emergencies or to prepare for reconstruction.
