Cités Unies France launches a special solidarity fund for African countries facing the COVID-19 crisis
As elsewhere in the world, African local governments are on the front line to face the COVID-19 crisis. To support them, Cités Unies France is launching an initiative for Africa and is opening a solidarity fund for these authorities.
After Asia, Europe and North and South America, it is now the African continent which is affected by the crisis. Cités Unies France partners are worried because many of them are unable to put in place effective containment plans for the population. Moreover, the risks linked to difficulties in food supply and delivery of care have been proven. In addition, African communities are particularly concerned about the negative impact of containment on the local economy, and fear a lack of recovery due to lack of support.
