Take part in the European Days of Local Solidarity 2017!

30 August 2017

The second edition of the European Days of Local Solidarity (EDLS) is taking place from 10-24 November 2017. If you want to organise an event to promote city-to-city and region-to-region development cooperation, don’t hesitate to contact us!

On 28 September 2017 (10am – 12h30 am), PLATFORMA partners are invited to join online the 3rd coordination meeting of the European Days of Local Solidarity 2017. This is an opportunity to discover and exchange on the exciting activity program of the next EDLS, scheduled for 10 to 24 November 2017. It will also be a good occasion for all partners active in awareness raising and global education to explore opportunities for collaboration as part of the EDLS 2017 activities.

Over the last months, the EDLS 2017 Working group has conducted an intensive collaborative work to consolidate the EDLS’ key messages and to upgrade its promotion strategy. As a result, the Charter of the EDLS has been drafted (also available in French and Spanish) as a call to all European cities and regions, and their associations, to join efforts in the field of awareness raising on sustainable development.

In 2016, PLATFORMA together with the Province of Barcelona (Diputació de Barcelona), launched the first edition of the EDLS. Seven different activities were organised across Europe, from the Basque Country to the Vidzeme region in Latvia, through Rome or Paris. The Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia), Euskal Fondoa (the Association of Basque Local Cooperation Organisations), the Italian Association of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (AICCRE), the City of Paris and the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments (LALRG) took part. This year, Nantes Métropole is joining the initiative.

All initiatives conducted under the EDLS are born and hosted in European cities and regions. They are all aimed at informing and raising awareness among European citizens on the need to join our efforts to build a more sustainable and inclusive world!
