An^Mar and FAMSI build a bridge over the Mediterranean
More than 300 local and institutional leaders from Africa and Europe gathered in Seville (Spain) at the IVth An^Mar Forum ‘A bridge for decentralised cooperation between Europe and Africa’ on 28 and 29 January. This forum was organised by the An^Mar Federation and FAMSI, in partnership with several national and international organisations such as DGCL (Dirección General de Colectividades Locales) of Morocco, UCLG Africa and PLATFORMA.
At the end of the event which took place at the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation in Seville, the 300 local and institutional leaders from Andalusia and Morocco adopted a Declaration in which they reiterate their engagement to decentralised cooperation and recognise the importance of the 2030 Agenda in building partnerships.
There is also a strong focus on gender equality at local level on both sides of the Mediterranean in the Declaration. SDG5 and gender equality were indeed one of the key topics of discussion during the Forum.
This forum was also the opportunity to sign a collaboration agreement between FAMSI and the General Directorate of Local Communities of the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Morocco.
Silvio Lazzari, Project officer at PLATFORMA, was there to give the European perspective.
