CUF | “The international action of local authorities at the heart of global issues”

29 April 2021

Cités Unies France, with more than 40 years of experience in supporting French local authorities in international cooperation, is organising its 12th edition of the annual Paris Meeting of local authorities’ international action, on 29 June, at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, Paris – La Villette, with a focus on climate issues.

“Global climate challenges impact us more and more in our local way of life and bring us, elected authorities, to rethink our social organisation, to  produce a transversal approach, to be able to define the problem at all levels of public policy. The international action of our local authorities is obviously very much concerned,” writes François Rebsamen, President of Cités Unies France, Mayor of Dijon and President of Dijon Métropole.

“International action is essential for the process of sharing and developing solutions, solutions that will enable us to cope with these challenges in order to be more respectful of our environment. We have to increase our
own responsibility for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), of which territorial implementation is already acknowledged.

More than ever, we are certain that climate issues have to be implemented in local authorities’ public policies, with an inclusive and social aspect.”
